That last link was at the Red Lake Network News, the site of yet another great tragedy where Yeagley chose to insult the victims.

Good to hear that Yeagley keeps getting his butt kicked. This pretender is a disgrace who doesn't fool anyone except a few gullible whites who want a token Indian and a couple self hating apple Indian sellouts.

Yeagley hates himself slightly more than he hates his own

David is an insignificant flea in Indian country, but he is important to racist groups out to terminate our people. So he is a thing we can't fully ignore.
So news of his defeat is gratifying to hear. I'm shocked he received even one vote. There is always someone for some reason who supports the hateful.
Yeagley will dissappear into the hateful sunset some day because you really can't stay that crazy for very long.
To the rest of the proud Comanche Nation. Good job in turning him away from leadership; you saved yourself a big headache.

On the Native American Issues yahoo group one poster called for Yeagley's ban from reservations.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Native_American_Issues_Causes/message/15033

"Hey Steph, that was a great article and good to know about this creep Yeagley. He should be banned off the reservation not only the Comanche, all reservations. I wish he lived around my area me and my buddies would kick his butt every time we seen him, and would most likely shave off his funny hair leaving him bald so he could look like one of his neo-Nazi skinhead friends. There has to be something mentally wrong with people like him who wants to ruin a nation of people, but he's just another ugly piece of the puzzle that is walking this country. There has to be an end to this type of scumbag, I wish I could take him on a one way vacation to South America.

The Truth Spreads About Yeagley

In less than three days, twenty websites have reposted the Indybay.org article, "White Supremacist Suffers Humiliating Defeat in Run for Comanche Nation Vice President."

I especially like Pechanga.net's title above it describing Yeagley, "MORON ALERT."

Add "moron" to other nicknames for Yeagley in Indian Country, like "1% Yeagley" and "Michael Jackson."

It's also amusing that the article made the Really Weird News.

Thanks to all, but especially to Nicole N over at Citizens Against Hate, who seems to have done the most to spread the word.

White Supremacist Suffers Humiliating Defeat in Run for Comanche Nation Vice President

David Yeagley, a white supremacist who has made a career out of posing as both a mainstream conservative and part-Comanche, fared extremely poorly in a special election for Comanche Nation Vice President, coming in a very distant fourth place out of four candidates.

Yeagley only got 102 votes, or slightly over 10%, in an election that also had an extremely low turnout of only 10%. That means that the number of eligible Comanche voters who cast their ballot for Yeagley was about 1%. Already Yeagley's loss has earned him a new nickname in Indian Country, ""1% Yeagley."

Yeagley and his supporters, in a rather bizarre denial of reality, claimed victory since he expected to only get "about five votes." Yet elsewhere in Indian Country, Natives that are familiar with Yeagley's chequered career are celebrating his getting his head handed to him.

Yeagley became enrolled with the Comanche Nation by accident, because his stepmother was Comanche. Kiowa disabled rights activist Cinda Hughes investigated and uncovered that it is a fairly open "secret" among Comanches that Yeagley was adopted. Comanche traditions do not allow for banishing anyone, no matter how contemptible their actions or beliefs.

Yeagley is a member of the white supremacist One Nation, which works against American Indians, especially on the issue of tribal sovereignty. He also is a speaker for the notoriously anti Semitic John Birch Society, best known for its bizarre conspiracy theories. Yeagley also is a supporter and associates with members of the National Alliance, the neo-Nazi skinhead group Storm Front (a Storm Front member moderated a section of Yeagley's message board on Jews), the eugenics website Gene Expression, and self described white nationalists and anti immigrant vigilantes the Minutemen.

Yeagley has long been a notorious character in Indian Country. He routinely refers to nonwhites (including American Indians) as "darkies." He has called for the mass murder of illegal immigrants and the mass deportation of all Arabs and Muslims. He frequently describes his admiration for Hitler, Columbus, and the Shah of Iran. Yeagley once compared Janet Jackson to an ape and called Martin Luther King "a blight on history." Yeagley received the strongest criticism when he attacked the Virginia Tech University shooting victims as "cowards."

Yeagley tried various tactics to boost his vote count in the campaign. According to one source in the Comanche Nation, literally every last vote for Yeagley was an absentee ballot. This suggests that Yeagley pushed his backers to vote early, before anyone could discover his unsavory past and beliefs.

Yeagley's campaign was marked by almost comical mistakes on his part. He gave a speech discussing Comanche clans. The problem is, the Comanche do not have clans. Yeagley was asked during a debate about the Indian Child Welfare Act, one of the most controversial issues in Indian Country. Yeagley was forced to admit he had never heard of it. Perhaps the most amusing fumble in his campaign came when Yeagley went to the Comanche courthouse, only to hide out from a group of Comanche women asking why he had lied about his stepmother being elected to a tribal post.

Such mistakes in Yeagley's attempt to pass himself off as Comanche are not new, and have long made him the butt of jokes in both the Comanche Nation and across Indian Country. Yeagley has often become an unwitting source of amusement at tribal council meetings, where anyone enrolled may speak. He once argued for the Comanche Nation to be the first to set up a tribally run bank. The first American Indian tribally run bank was begun more than twenty years ago, and more than two dozen exist today. His attempts to "look more Indian" also make him hard for many to take him seriously. Yeagley straightened his curly brown hair and dyed it black, and is fond of pancake makeup and turtleneck sweaters. Rumors swirl that he has had plastic surgery and have earned him another nickname, "Michael Jackson."

Yet his attempts to use dubious claims of American Indian ancestry to promote his white supremacy beliefs are no joke. Sometimes hardline conservatives find him useful to use as a token, and quote him as though he had a serious following within Indian Country. In this he follows in a long tradition of others claiming to be American Indian being used by the right wing such as 'Princess Pale Moon" and "Chief AJ."

"1% Yeagley": Comanches Reject Yeagley by a Landslide

Yeagley went to down to a humiliating defeat in his campaign for Comanche Vice President. 90% of Comanches voted against him in a vote that drew only about 10% turnout.

That means that barely one out of a hundred eligible Comanche voters voted for Yeagley. Yes, Yeagley actually got only 1% of Comanche votes.

Yeagley came in an extremely distant fourth place out of four. The leading candidate, Ronald Red Elk, garnered more than four times as many votes.

One Comanche source stated literally every last vote Yeagley got were absentee votes. That suggests two things:

Very few of the tiny number who voted for him knew his actual views. Yeagley quickly realized he had to keep his white supremacy beliefs to himself, and that he had to get naive voters to cast their ballot for him before they could find out about his many notorious positions, from hatred for American Indian veterans to his attacks on the Virginia Tech massacre victims as "cowards".

Or that his tiny amount of support came entirely from people not living in the Comanche community, people who had not witnessed him repeatedly embarass himself with such acts as hiding out from women critics and not knowing the most basic things about Comanche culture.

A few quick reactions to the news:

His message is harmful to all Indians. He perpetuates stereotypes and provides racists with ammunition to attack Indians. The Comanche saw right through this imposter attempting to infiltrate their tribal government.

That is really good news.

You gotta understand that those of us who were not in a position to know his status in Comanche country were holding our breaths because if he had won he would have jacked up his "Indian" pulpit even higher than it is and attacked all tribes from that forum.

Congratulations.
-Steve Russell, Cherokee and law professor

Funny how Comanches have never seen any of his family at the meetings. They are from the OKC area, they didn't even show at that meeting.

I'm disappointed he got 100 votes = 100 idiots!

I'll tell you why I'm so dissapointed. There will be a run-off. This is not good. That position has been open for 3quarters of a year and this idiot who's shameless self-promotion of just "being on the ballot" has hindered the progress of my nation.

The winner must get greater than 50% of the vote. Now it will take another 2 months to process another election by that time, whoever runs will be out that year the position has been open.

He cares only about himself. In his deficient un-reality, he thinks good for him is good for others.

His learning curve is about 50 years behind. Our people used to embrace the mascots simple because we wanted others to know we were still here. Today, we are WAYYYYYYYyyyy beyond that imagery. This fool is imbedded in this twisted, early 20th century limited ignorant belief.

Unfortunately to this Yeagley person he will now use this whole thing and prop himself up even more than he does by adding to his Indian resume that he actually ran for a seat somewhere amongst the proud Comanche nation. To white people he will appear more legitimate to them . To his critics this solidifies that he is REGISTERED as he can actually run for a seat reserved only for registered/blooded comanches. Oh well, just another huckster.
